People amaze me

It never ceases to amaze me... seriously.. that people have nothing better to do than talk shit.. what makes it even funnier is the half truths. It's cool though I am far from a victim, I am human, I have had my less than shining moments. However if their bashing and bad mouthing makes them feel a better person. Feel free and keep talking...I insist.

I am one person lol no one important, and yet the rumors abound, I am always amazed when I hear some of them. I am blessed with friends who know the truth, who don't bother to listen.
I got handed a pack of lies..suddenly everything comes into focus. I see you for what you are. How the high and mighty fall.

Remember that old song... " they smile in your face, all the while they wanna take your place... backstabbers" it is so true at times.
So on to bigger and better things yes? Believe it or not, it doesn't revolve around running around trying to destroy people, or at the very least make them look bad. Most people make themselves look bad all on their own.

Analyzing the “I Am…Yours” special. Hilarious

Don't get me wrong..I love her music and she's beautiful! But this video is brilliant

(spotted on FourFour)

New Music: Birdman feat. Drake & Lil Wayne “4 My Town”

The Pimp in us

So my homegirl Talia Sunset (US) came out to Amsterdam for the
Cannabis Cup and to gogo for my Birthday Bash a couple of days ago.
She's one dope @ss chick I met in Vegas through my USLA fam and she
was practically my neighbor when I had my studio in Hollywood.
We had some crazy adventures, unfortunately most of which were too x-rated for blogging. :)

Talia at my Bday Party @ Powerzone Amsterdam

I love her FTW point of view, it reminds me of myself in my younger
days. (Yes I'm officially older than a quarter-century as of today!)
We have so many things in common such as our independence, career
focus, and the fact that neither of us were looking for a
relationship.

But then she met this guy and oh boy... how things changed in no time! lol
We live, breathe and flirt in a world of high-tech digital romance. I
can say with a straight face that I am not a big fan of this statement
but shiet might as well admit that I abuse texting/IMing/Facebook
chatting when it comes to communicating with members of the opposite sex.
Though we all know that no Tweet can compare to face-to-face
interaction when you’re wheeling and dealing in the game of love.

gettin ready to gogo

I don't want to get too far ahead of myself, BUT...did the pimp
in us just die? Yo forealz though Talia and her man are the corniest couple ever. After spending 4 days in a row with Talia. Y'all have no idea! Literally, love was in
the AIR! I hate to admit it, but somehow I caught that flu.

"We are magic. When we're together our real life is on hold and very
far away. We can be anyone we want or we can finally be ourselves."

On to the next one

My dear readers (if I even have any after my long blogging hiatus!): I know it’s been almost two months, which is practically an eternity in the blogosphere. I know we have a lot of catching up to do, and that it will be near impossible to really do that justice. I guess you could say I’ve been taking a blog-cation of sorts.

But here I am. Back home from my lengthy, satisfying visit to the States. Just had my Big Bday Bash in Amsterdam, which was a huge succes! However I was more busy getting all my friends in than partying how a Bday girl should party! Or maybe It's just because I'm getting older. lol

Big shout to Dung, Talia, Ravuth, Real, Dirk and all them peoples who came trough and made this happen. Love u guys!

Pictures from my Bday Bash coming soon!

WMC MIAMI 2009!

Where should I begin? I was down in South Beach for the world music conference, having the time of our lives. The best DJ's from around the world, playing at infamous clubs of epic porportion with amazing sound system, and people from around the world that come together for this special week. I had to say, the vibes and the energy of it all was almost overwhelming; I hadn't seen those kind of parties since I was born!

Check the video below for Chromeo's set at the Fountain Blue Bacardy Poolparty.

Anyways, this picture was taken on Saturday night @ LIV Nightclub, which was without a doubt the place to be on Saturday night. Erick Morillo was killing it on the turntables all night, bottles poppin' everywhere, people losing their minds to his amazing set. P Diddy got up on the DJ booth, whistle in his mouth, airhorn in his hand, and started going nuts and getting everyone hyped up. Seeing that place fucking jumping, P Diddy getting down to the dopest house music, and everyone having an amazing time, it was truly a great experience.

Santa Cruz de Tenerife

In february I had the pleasure to go visit my homeboy Real El Canario in Tenerife. He was preparing Tenerife's largest, most impressive and most spectacular carnival.

Check the video below for his opening set as headliner. U think you know, but u have no idea!

Real el Canario performed along with four US acts; DJ Craze, Ron Carroll, Armand Van Helden and the legendary Roger Sánchez

My interview @ neversatisfied.net

My homeboy Mikey Fresh who writes for The Source asked me to do this interview. This kid does amazing work in NYC, check out his blog at www.neversatisfied.net for the latest news, funk about fashion x hiphop

Name: Nance Vu
Where do you represent: Amsterdam baby!
Favorite fashion brands: There are WAY too many, but River Islands is one of my fav stores.
Favorite Music artists: too many to name
Worst pickup line you heard this week: I got this random message on myspace recently…
“ I want to train my Dutch, and I have chosen you as my teacher!,” thought it was funny..

NS: Nancy, so Neversatisfied picked you as our first feature for “Lifestyles of the young & hustlin’ ” section, so what do you do for money or just to live?

Nancy: First off, thanx for picking me as your first feature, very appreciated. Well, I just started to branch out on my own a year ago, and now I’m freelancing full time all over the place doing event planning, artistbooking, to PR, etc.

NS: How did you get into the industry, and personally do you think it was harder for you because you are a woman… a very pretty woman at that??

Nancy: Haha..I fell into the industry actually by pursuing a degree in PR and marketing. I started got an internship at ‘Connecting The Scene’ , which is like the biggest urban community company in Europe. This allowed me to get introduced to the entertainment industry.

I think being a woman in general poses challenges in life that men don’t face. It’s tougher because people don’t always take you seriously. But all you have to do is hustle harder! Lol.. You run into so many obstacles especially in the entertainment industry wether you’re male or female and from what I have experienced people try to pull you down. You have to develop a thick skin. Keep moving to the next and the next and the next. Be creative and, I’m devoted to make my mark in the industry.

NS: So you’ve pretty much worked all over the world, where is your favorite city, and is there somewhere you haven’t been to yet that you want to visit.

Nancy: I’d have to say NYC is definitely one of them. The city of neon and chrome and another would have to be LA of course. Life never stops there, there’s never a moment of boredom. Love the people, weather and all that good stuff! Japan is definitely on the next episode. Hopefully this year.

NS: You’ve brought Asian artists like Jin and Far East Movement to Europe and any future plans to work with these guys?

Nancy: I’m always open to work with these cats again. The FM boys are like my fam! Very proud to see how they finally getting the mainstream attention they deserve. I heard some major labels are interested to sign them. So yeah, Europe tour part deux could be coming anytime soon.

NS: Can we go on a date… I mean what do you think the next big trend in music or fashion will be?

Nancy: Haha sure anytime! In Europe, house/dance music has become the new big ‘urban’ movement. This dj I work with, who goes by the name of Real El Canario, came to Amsterdam a few years ago and set off this trend in the Netherlands. People here call it ‘eclectic’ but he simply considers it to be ‘Hip-Hop’. He opened a new door for the club scene, that inspired many dj’s to enter.

I believe the next big trend will be ‘Urban’ artist reaching out and working with dance/house producers. It’s actually already happening and slowly taking over the trill.

NS: Okay, Nance I think I’ve bothered you enough, what big plans do you have for this year?

Nancy: Lets say I’m working on this big project, can’t say too much about it just yet! But you will be the first to know..promise J

OFF TO ANTALYA!

So last month I got this call from one of my partners and she told me about this big hotel owner in turkey who wanted us to put this event together. From decoration to the whole entertainment scene. I was pretty excited but when I got at his hotel in Turkey...

WOW...breathtaking! This place was nuts! It's called the Adam & Eve hotel with the longest swimmingpool, longest bar, longest buffet etc. I seriously gain like 5 kilo's in one week. NO BS! The whole hotel is covered with mirrors and discolights. We even had a jacuzzi in the middle of our room!

Check the video below!

So if you ever plan going to Turkey. Make sure you'll stay at the Adam& Eve Hotel.

Disappointing performance by Mos Def

Mos def cancelled on almost all Rock The Bells gigs in Europe, due some issues with Guerilla Union. They flew in Pharaoh Monch to fill up, but in the end Mos Def showed up performing.
He started of with his 16 bars of The Roots track Rising Down, but his show never came off the ground. Matter of fact his show was wack! The worst! Some people call it selfish, some arrogant, some say lack of respect for the fans, but I guess the issues he has with Guerilla Union pulled his last straw. Unfortunate it had effect on his performance. No Ms. Fat Booty, No Mathematics..not even one full track of his succesfull album. Having that said, he stays an amazing artist and actor!

Mos Def holdin it down for Getatnance

If the glove dont fit the style don't quit!

Supernatural is regarded as one of the most talented freestyle emcees in hip-hop. He has traveled the entire globe, won 1st place in competitions, and rocked every microphone he held.
Supernatural was freestyling off whatever was being thrown @ Rock The Bells and DJ Scratch was constructing beats on the fly based on mere beat-boxing. Impressive on the flow, and on the beat improvisation.

Supernatural holds the world’s record for the longest a freestyle rap at over nine hours.

MC LYTE

I love MC Lyte, even today, she is the ultimate female rapper in the hip-hop game. Lyte is a icon, I have nothing but respect for her. What can I really say about her, speaks for herself... legend, smart, educated, talented, hiphop grown, sexy and the list goes on.

It's over 10 years since she came out to Amsterdam. She started of with cha cha cha and took the audience trough an incredible hip hop journey. She did THE hits...PAPER THIN, RUFFNECK, POOR GEORGIE, COLD ROCK A PARTY, KEEP ON and MORE. The crowd loved it! Felt good to have her back in Amsterdam.

INTERVIEW DJ EYRRO & CHIEF

So since my last trip out to Los Angeles I decided to bring out some fresh cats up to the euro. Let me introduce you to this kid that goes by the name of dj Eyrro. Born in Hollywood and raised in Pasadena, a city located in Los Angeles County. DJ Eyrro has been DJing for 10 years now, mainly in the Los Angeles/Hollywood area and been through many aspects of the DJ world. From his early beginnings of DJing house music, then entered the hip-hop battle scene, to where he's currently known as a club DJ.

Here's an interview i recently did with him.

- This is going to be your first trip to Europe right? Excited?
Yes this is my first trip to Europe and I am beyond excited. Just the nature of being in another country is what I am looking forward to.

- So for the people who are not from your area who wouldn't know a lot about the scene, talk a little bit about L.A. Hip-Hop, mix-show scene and everything like that.
Los Angeles is unique in my opinion. I like to think L.A. is a mecca for diversity. The hip-hop scene has made it's way not only to the urban setting, but it has become a universal sound. Mix-shows have made there way to the mainstream as well. Considering now, commercial radio is now playing a wider variety of genres because of the demand in the L.A. area. In general, Los Angeles has it's own vibe. Something everyone should experience at least once in their life.

- What's a signature characteristic of a Eyrro set?
Good question!? I'm pretty versatile. I also like to incorporate the "un-ordinary" when it comes to my mixing adding a few things most DJs won't do. Overall, I just like to have fun... and it shows when I perform.

- What new DJs and performers have caught your attention?
There are many local DJs who have extreme talent. To many to even name, that I can't keep up! Meaning I can't keep up with them. With all the up and comers, not only do I have respect for them, thet push me to stay on top of my game.

- Name one song that has had a long tenure on your playlist. What makes that particular track so timeless?
I would have to say Michael Jackson's "BILLY JEAN" - It's a classic!

- How do you see the scene locally, and where do you see it going?
The local scene is well established. Truthfully, I see many top name L.A. DJs still performing at smaller local venues including myself. Sometimes it's nice just to be in a more intimate environment. It just feels that the people enjoy it more.

- Expectations and what the definition of a DJ is.. have definitely changed, so here in 2008, knowing the hard work, the dedication and the loyalty that a DJ must always give, what do you think it has turned into?
I believe the DJ in todays scene has had a minor set back. Technology has allowed pretty much anyone to become a DJ, which now has led to quantity over quality. Several NEW DJs just assume that if they have a great playlist, they are a great DJ! It doesn't bother me much, because I continue to do hard work and be loyal to those who understand the quality that I believe is a neccessity to survive in the scene.

- Do you have any parting words to our readers?
Thanks for reading... and see you at the main event!

- Finally, what can the clubbers expect from you in Europe?
Just an old fashion good time!

Dj Eyrro and Chief will be on tour from 18 till 27th of december in Europe.

TOUR SCHEDULE

18 dec: Radio Studio Brussels, Belgium
19 dec: Club Zenith TBA, The Netherlands
20 dec: Da Shake, Kortrijk, Belgium
21 dec: Mondial, Beek, The Netherlands
24 dec: Off Corso with Real El Canario, Rotterdam, The Netherlands
26 dec: La Rocca, Antwerp, Belgium

FAR EAST MOVEMENT

Ok, this one is long overdue. But i still had to post this one online since Jay's reaction is historical.

Far East Movement consist of Kev Nish, Prohgress, J-Splif and DJ Virman. Their songs have been featured on “Fast and Furious Tokyo Drift” and HBO’s “Entourage.” They have a great sound and are starting to get some mainstream attention from TV channels like MTV. This LA based rap group is now hard at work on their album, Animal. Make sure you check out their live online release party on FM TV next tuesday, november 25th from 9-10pm.

DE LA SOUL - TRUE LEGENDS

De La Soul recently performed at Rock The Bells in Amsterdam. They are simply one of my hip-hop's favourite groups.

Let’s be honest, most hip-hop shows are wack. They show up late, play a 20 minute set, and fill the stage with every cousin and weed carrier known to man. But not De La. They ROCK the show.

It’s hard to believe that De La has been in the game for 20 years, and even though these cats are “old” by hip-hop standards, they had more energy and fire than people half their age.

Their longevity is rightly deserved, and they put every bit of energy they had into their performance. The crowd was one of the livest that I ever seen. Seriously the crowd went NUTS when they did "Simon Says" along with Pharaoh Monch.

These dudes have been in business longer than most of these kids have lived, but there was such an appreciation for REAL HIP-HOP in the building. Just crazy! Check the video below.

So yea the show was dope except for the horrible shitty sound. That pretty much was the worse sound I have ever heard. It was that bad. It was in fact terrible. The result? A lot of drama going on backstage, I will spare you with the details.

However, they all showed up at the afterparty and it was good to see all of them having a good time.

Having that said, it makes De La Soul who they are. Of the soul. For the people.

Check out a small cut with my interview with De La and their advice for upcoming artist
